I just want to convert files - do I need to use the API?
If you just need to convert files in a hurry use our online service at https://www.zamzar.com - you can upload files in your web browser without any technical knowledge needed. Just pick your files, choose the format to convert to and we'll do the rest for you.
What is a conversion credit?
Every successful conversion costs at least 1 credit. Conversions that are more intensive to process can cost more - our formats page has details.
Are there any bandwidth limits?
Yes - The first 50 MB of any input file is included in your conversion cost. Every 50 MB increment after that will cost more credits - e.g. a "2 credit" conversion with a 120 MB input file will cost 6 credits.
Can I use your service to host files?
No - once converted you should use our API to download your file(s). The Zamzar API is designed to facilitate fast, painless file conversion, it is not intended to act as a CDN.
What is the API service?
The Zamzar API is a cloud-based service that allows you to integrate file conversion into your own apps and services. Like a black box for your files - we take care of all the processing for you. You'll need some technical skills to use it, but we have code samples to get you started.
Do you offer bigger plans?

Can I use this API for production?
Absolutely - we have designed the conversion API to be secure, robust and scalable for production environments. We have been converting files since 2006 so you can trust we'll be there for you.
What happens if I run out of credits?
We'll warn you before it happens - every API call includes a response header detailing how many credits you have left. You can also check your dashboard and upgrade your account if you need more credits.
